The worm has become one of the most widely used transmission dcviccs in the mechanical manufacturing industry because of its smooth operation,compact structure,and high transmission efficiency,especially the cylindrical worm which is easy to process.With the appearance of new type of worms.the requirement for the accuracy of cylindrical worms gets higher and higher.Therefore,how to improve the precision of the worms has become the main research subject rcccntly.It is important to accuratelv detect the errors of the worm.Worm error detection is mainlv based on the tooth profile and helix.So it lays foundations for the further implementation of error measurement of the worm,for the correction of worm parameters,and also for the manufacturing and processing of xvorms bv studying worm processing methods,constructinu the theoretical models of the tooth surface and tooth profile.and calculating the corresponding theoretical data.This thesis first introduces the basic classification of the worms.and the charactcristics.parameters and processing methods of the tooth profile of the worms.which provides thcoretical basis for the derivation of the mathematical models of the worm gear surface.This work studics the basic method of establishing equations of worm tooth surface.With ZA.ZK worms as the research object,we obtained worm tooth surface equations and finally derived the axial and normal tooth profile equation.by establishing the coordinate systems of the worms and machining tool,obtaining the coordinates of the conversion equation.deriving cutting tool edge equation.and using the coordinate conversionThen we studied the algorithm of solving the worm tooth surface and tooth profile equation in detail,according to the range of the value of variables in equation,and proposed algorithm using which we can obtain the tooth surface and tooth profile coordinate values.The algorithm process was realized in MATLAB and the corresponding tooth profile was drawn.By using the MFC design of cylindrical worm calculation interface program,using algorithm program written in MATLAB to produce dynamic link library,and using C++to call the dynamic link library,we realized the selections of worm type,spin direction and tooth surface and profile,and also input parameters,the display of theoretical values and data storage function in computing interface.Finally,a set of calculations with input of actual parameter values of ZA and ZK worms were performed,obtaining the theoretical coordinate values of tooth surfaces and tooth profiles.The corresponding tooth profiles were drawn.And to ZA worm,for example,we did the measurement of tooth surface and axial tooth in the three coordinate measuring machine,calculated the theoretical value in corresponding position according to the measured parameters,and compared with the measured value,which verified the correction of the establishment of mathematical model and algorithm for ZA worm.
