Eco-environment has always been a hot issue for scholars. In recent years, environmental pollution problems have emerged continuously, which makes the establishment of ecological civilization and the protection of the ecological environment become the focus of national attention. Our country has a vast territory. The ecological environment of different provinces is not only related to their own environmental resources, but also to the economic development.Because of the uneven distribution of natural resources and the different level of social and economic development, there are some differences in the ecological environment quality between different provinces. At the same time, due to the mobility of economic indicators, there may be some spatial correlation between the ecological environment quality of different regions. In view of the above considerations,it is of great significance to measure and analyze the spatial correlation of the ecological environment quality of different provinces in China.Areas with high ecological environment quality not only have abundant environmental resources, but also need lower pollution discharge and better environmental treatment and protection. Therefore, based on the comprehensive study of domestic and foreign scholars, this paper constructs the evaluation index system of ecological environment in four aspects: the intensity of environmental pollution, the status quo of resources and environment, the ability of pollution control, environmental protection and management. After that the ecological environment quality of 30 provinces in China from 2004 to 2016 is estimated by improved analytic hierarchy process COV-AHP.On this basis, the regional development differences and spatial correlation of ecological environment quality in China are studied. Finally,in order to analyze the influencing factors of ecological environment quality,on the basis of IPAT model and environmental Kuznets curve, this paper synthesizes the research situation of various scholars, and analyses the impact of each index on ecological environment from six perspectives: economic development level, population scale, technological progress, industrial structure, environmental regulation and opening-up level. The results show that, firstly, the quality of ecological environment in China shows a gradual upward trend from 2004 to 2016;secondly,there are some differences among the eastern, central and western regions of China, the differences mainly come from within-group differences;thirdly, the quality of ecologicalenvironment among different provinces in China is spatially correlated and the local spatial correlation shows that there are high-high or low-low distribution patterns in some regions.Fourthly,in the analysis of influencing factors, the empirical results show that, except for the level of opening up,the other explanatory variables have a significant impact on the ecological environment quality of China. The level of economic development and population density not only have a significant impact on the ecological environment quality of the region, but also have a significant impact on the ecological environment quality of adjacent regions.Based on the results of this study and the actual situation, the following suggestions are put forward for speeding up the development of ecological environment quality: firstly,to strengthen the relationship between regional ecological environment and promote the balanced development of ecological environment quality;secondly,we should promote the upgrading of industrial structure and accelerate the transformation of production mode;thirdly,to strengthen pollution control and develop clean energy;fourthly,to coordinate the relationship between economy and ecology according to local conditions.
