With a large number of oil exploration in shallow and easy-to-drill formation,the oil content of these formations decreases rapidly,which result in the increasing demand for oil and gas exploitation in deep and complex formations.However,the impregnated diamond bits,which are used to deal with the hard and abrasive bedrock,are often manufactured in unreasonable material design and sintering process.Therefore,the performance of the bits can not achieve the desired results.In this paper,through theoretical analysis,empirical and experimental research,a new impregnated diamond cutter for bedrock is developed as well as sintering process.The results of study showed that:(1)The new impregnated diamond cutters which are developed with 60% WC as the framework material,15% X6-600 pre-alloyed powder and 25% CuSn pre-alloyed powder as bonded metal have good comprehensive properties.The Rockwell hardness of the new impregnated diamond cutter is HRC 48.4,and the bending strength is 430 MPa.The bending strength of the cutter without diamond decrease 17.3%.(2)Hot pressing sintering is more appropriate than cold pressing sintering for this matrix formula.The optimum hot pressing sintering parameters are as follows: the sintering temperature is 900?,the sintering pressure is 30 MPa,and the holding time is about 5 minutes.The performance of the cutters manufactured by the optimum hot pressing sintering parameters have is best.The Rockwell hardness is HRC 48.4.(4)The selection of diamond parameters should be considered comprehensively.For different rocks,the best diamond concentration is different.The best diamond parameters are as follow: JR4 series of diamond is best for bedrock.The concentration of diamond products is 100%.Mix diamond with 30/35 mesh,40/45 mesh and 50/60 mesh in the ratio of 3 to 4 to 3.The cutters manufactured by the optimum diamond parameters have high drilling rate and long service life.
