With the wide application of high performance fibers,aramid 1313,as an intrinsic flame retardant fiber,is often used in some special industries such as fire protection,military and police,smelting,etc.However,the poor comfort of Aramid 1313seriously affects the occupational health and comfort of users.In addition,with the rapid development of economy and science and technology,people also put forward higher requirements for the safety and protection performance of textiles in daily life,such as labor insurance clothing,racing cars,non-flammable pajamas for the elderly and children in the petrochemical and electric power industry.Therefore,it is particularly important to make protective fabrics both flame retardant and protective and comfortable to wear.In this paper,the hydrophilic softness of Aramid 1313 fabric is improved by post-finishing.However,due to the regular molecular chain of aramid 1313,smooth surface,strong hydrophobicity,stiff handle and poor direct finishing effect,surface modification of Aramid 1313 fabric is carried out in order to obtain good post-finishing effect,so as to increase its surface active point and enhance its wettability,thus making the combination of finishing agent and fabric more firmly,in order to improve the hydrophilic and soft finishing effect of the fabric,the modified Aramid 1313 fabric has good thermal and wet comfort and contact comfort as well as flame retardancy.The main research contents and results are as follows:(1)The Aramid 1313 fabric was modified by Friedel-Crafts alkylation,and the oxygen-containing groups were grafted onto the surface of the fabric to produce more polarity points and improve the surface wettability of the fabric.The effects of mass ratio of epichlorohydrin to anhydrous AlCl3,reaction time and ultrasonic treatment time on breaking strength and wicking height of fabrics were studied by single factor analysis.It was found that with the increase of mass ratio of epichlorohydrin to anhydrous AlCl3 and ultrasonic treatment time,the breaking strength and wicking height of modified fabrics increased first and then decreased.The results show that the breaking strength of the fabrics decreases and the wicking height increases first and then decreases.Finally,the optimum process of Friedel-Crafts reaction modification is obtained as follows:the mass ratio of epichlorohydrin to anhydrous AlCl3 is 40:25,the reaction time is 2 h,and the ultrasonic treatment time is 30 min.SEM observation showed that Friedel-Crafts modification resulted in slight etching on the surface of the fibers and less damage to the bulk of the fibers.XPS and infrared spectroscopy were used to analyze the surface elements of the fabrics treated by the original cloth,Friedel-Crafts’reaction and NaOH solution.It was found that Friedel-Crafts reaction resulted in the successful grafting of oxygen-containing groups on the surface of the fabrics,improved wettability and more active points on the surface of the fabrics treated by NaOH solution.The grafting was proved to be successful.(2)The hydrophilic softening finishing of modified Aramid 1313 fabric was carried out.The effects of the ratio of two softeners,impregnation time,setting temperature and number of impregnation times on the wicking height and bending stiffness of the fabric were investigated by single factor analysis.The results showed that the optimum process was determined by response surface method:the ratio of softener M and N was 2:8,impregnation time was 20 min,and setting temperature was 100℃.The optimum finishing process of the original fabric and the modified fabric was carried out to test its washability.The results show that the bond between the original fabric and the finishing agent is weak.After washing for many times,the hydrophilicity and softness of the original fabric are greatly reduced.After washing for 40 times,the wicking height decreases by 33.8%.When washing for 20 times,the bending stiffness increases by 12.7%.Due to the effect of Friedel-Crafts modification,the bond between the finishing agent and the modified Aramid 1313 fabric is more firm,and the hydrophilicity and softness decrease only slightly.After 40 times of washing,the modified fabric decreased by only 7.8%,and the bending stiffness increased by 11.8%.(3)The flame retardancy,thermal and wet comfort and contact comfort of the original and modified Aramid 1313 fabrics were tested.The results show that the flame retardancy of finished fabrics increases by 0.3s in warp direction,0.2s in weft direction,0.3s in warp and weft direction,5.3%in warp direction,7.5%in weft direction.The flame retardancy of finished fabrics is slightly worse,but both of them meet the flame retardant grade B1 of flame retardant fabrics.In the aspect of contact comfort,the finished Aramid 1313 fabric is softer,waxy and fuller,with less rigidity,soft handle,better contact warmth and warmth retention,less surface roughness and surface roughness irregularity,but its crease resistance is decreased,and its antistatic property is greatly improved.By using principal component analysis and Python language,21 comfort index scores were calculated.The results show that the score of the modified fabrics is higher than that of the original fabrics,which indicates that the comfort of the modified fabrics is better than that of the original fabrics.There are 22 figures,26 tables and 102 references.
