In recent years,a large number of textiles come into our living,working and studying environment with the improvement of people’s living standard.While we enjoy the comfort,beauty and cleanliness of the textiles,we have to meet the security risks because of its flammable properties.Now people put forward more and more high demand on the flame retardant property as well as the use function of the textile.The design of the existing flame retardant fabric is mainly focused on the protection function under the high temperature working environment,and there is still a lack of flame retardant fabrics with comfort,economy and good appearance.Due to its unique molecular structure,meta aramid fiber has outstanding flame resistance and thermal stability,cost-effective.In order to solve the problem above,we weaved fabrics of different specifications with meta aramid yarns and then analyzed the influence of fabric structure on flame retardant property.In order to improve the comfort of fabric,we used fabric moisture wicking finishing to develop flame retardant and comfortable aramid fabric,providing more safe and comfortable daily protection for people working and living in the fire services,petroleum,coal mine industries and other environment.The main contents and results show:(1)We designed and weaved 36 kinds of aramid fabrics of different specifications according to the fabric tightness,fabric weave and yarn density and tested its flame resistance and comfort.Then we analyzed the influence of fabric tightness,fabric weave,yarn linear density,fabric square Mick weight and thickness on the properties of the fabrics systematically and got the primary and secondary sequence and significance of the influence factor.Fabric tightness,fabric weave and yarn density all have significant effects on the flame retardancy of aramid fabrics.In general,the change of fabric weave has the greatest influence on the flame retardancy of the fabric,and the yarn density is the second,and the influence of the tightness is the smallest among the three.We know that 8/3 satin fabric with 29.5tex×2 yarn density and 299×158/10cm has the best flame retardancy in 36kinds of fabrics by the orthogonal experimental design.We recommend that when design and develop aramid fabric,we should meet the comfort of the fabric firstly,and the flame retardancy is second to consider.That is,flame retardant and comfort aramid fabric should be small tight,fine yarn,and have loose-based specifications.(2)We sorted the comfortableness of the 36 kinds of fabrics by fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method.The results show that the vast majority of satin fabric are on top of the list,and satin fabrics have the best overall comfort well plain fabrics are the worst among the three.The satin fabric with 14.8tex×2,273×223/10cm has the best comfort and this result is consistent with the theoretical knowledge and our life experience:Fabric has good comfort with small tightness,fine yarn and loose structure.(3)In order to improve the comfort of aramid fabric,we treated it by three modified methods including plasma treatment,acid Potassium Permanganate treatment and terephthaloyl chloride treatment and then we made moisture wicking finishing.The experimental results show that the flame retardancy of fabrics can still reach the B1 level of GB/T17591-2006;The comfort of the fabric treated by acid Potassium Permanganate has been improved obviously and the process is putting the fabrics into the solution of 10%H2SO4 and 5g/L KMnO4 and keeping it under constant temperature(30℃)with 35min;After plasma modification,fabric comfort can be improved but the effect is not as good as the acid Potassium Permanganate;However,there is a downward trend of fabric comfort treated by terephthaloyl chloride.According to the requirements of more and more consumers to the flame retardant property of textiles,the fabrics that we developed can effectively solve the problems that the protective effect and comfort of low-end products is not ideal.At the same time,we can also provide research ideas and theoretical basis for the improvement of the comfort of the aramid fiber fabrics.Our market positioning is about flame retardant fabrics for army uniforms,rescue service clothing,bunker clothing,welding clothing,protective clothing for inflammable and explosive place and other protective apparel.
