Absorbent paper belongs to specialty paper,which was applied to food packaging,health care products,and medical supplies.The performance of super absorbant paper was affected by the absorbant materials,the additive agent,the prodution process and the original paper.An acrylic acid super absorbent resin polymer?SAP?was successful synthesized by solution polymerization,the effects of original paper made from the three types fibers on the water absorption and mechanical properties of the coated paper were studied.The difference of the effects of the three coating adhesives on absorbent paper were analysed.The coating parameters were systematically studied by the respond surface methodology.The best additive agent was selected and the optimal coating condiction was achieved.The preparation process parameters of SAP through the solution polymerization were studied.The water absorbant ratio of SAP was 301 g/g under the optimizational synthesize condiction:the neutralization degree of monomer was 90%,the initiator concentration was 3.5%,the cross-linking agent?PEG-1000?dosage was 5%,the reaction temperature was 50°C,and the reaction time was 3 h.In order to evaluate the effect of different fiber materials on the absorption and mechanical properties of coated paper,the three types of fibers?the softwood pulp,the hardwood pulp,and the non-wood fibre?were selected for beating and papermaking.The three types of base paper were manufactured,and SAP/carboxymethyl cellulose?CMC?coating operation was carried out on those base papers.The effects of the coating process on the water absorption,mechanical properties,and surface micro-morphology of the coated paper were studied.The water absorption and cobb?60?value of paper were decreased with the increasing of beating degree of the pulp.The tensile index,wet tensile index,and the the burst index of the sheets were increased with the increasing of beating degree.The tearing index of the sheets was increased at first and then reduced over the maximum value with the increasing of beating degree.The water absorption and physical properties of coated paper were much higher than the uncoated ones.Coating process can improve the water absorption and physical strength of paper effectively.The effect of the SAP and the SAP/CMC on the sbsorption of the three coated sheets were investigated.The effect of the three additive agents?CMC,Oxidized starch,and polyvinyl alcohol?on the water absorbant and physical properties were assessed.The water absorption,cobb?60?value,and tearing index of the SAP/PVA coated paper showed the greatest increment among the three coated papers,while the tensile index and burst index of SAP/OS coated paper showed the best growth among the three coated papers,and the wet tensile index of SAP/CMC coated paper showed the best growth among the three coated papers.The addition of additive agent increased the air permeability of coated paper and reduced the paper somthness of coated paper compared to the SAP coated paper.Take those into consideration,the PVA was selected as additive agent to enhance the water absorbant and the mechanical properties of coated paper.The coating parameters of the coated super absorbent paper preparation have been systematically studied by the respond surface methodology.The influences of solid content of coating liquid?X1?,the proportion of polyvinyl alcohol?PVA??X2?,the super absorbent polymer?SAP?granularity?X3?,and the coating weight?X4?on the water absorption and the cobb?60?value of the coated paper have been revealed.The binomial equations of the target indexes included the above four parameters have been calculated.The results of the four parameters interaction analysis showed that the interaction of the four factors were not significant on the water absorption.The interaction of X1X4 had the greatest influence on Cobb?60?value,burst index,and air permeability.The interaction of X1X2 had the greatest influence on the tensile index.The water absorption and cobb?60?value of coated paper were 3.00 g/g and 326.65g/m2 respectively,the burst index was 1.70 k Pa·m2/g,the tensile index was 10.83N·m/g,and the air permeability was 16.47?m/?Pa·s?,under the optimizational conditions,which were acquired at the solid content of coating liquid was 5.0%,the proportion of PVA was 5.0%,the 100-120 mesh screened SAP particles were used,and the coating weight was 5.0 g/m2.The SEM images of the coated paper was shown that the coating was spread out uniformly and the SAP was strong linked to the surface of fiber.
