In this paper, two plant herbal extracts were used to prepare antibacterial and anti mite cotton fibers: HB extract and AH extract were used as antibacterial and anti-mite functional agents and tannic acid is used as a functional factor to enhance the washing resistance of modified cotton fibers. The technological conditions and properties of the modified fibers were studied and analyzed.First of all,the antibacterial properties of five plant extracts of traditional Chinese medicine were studied by agar plate diffusion method. The results showed that both the HB extract and the AH extract had good antibacterial and anti-mite effects, and the antibacterial activity: HB extract> AH extract> TZK extract> YT extract> GZ extract; The antibacterial and anti-mite performance test results of HB extracts and AH extracts with different concentrations show that the HB extract concentration of 5% and the AH extract concentration of 9% have good antibacterial and anti-mite effects. Then, the cotton fiber was pretreated. The scouring and bleaching solution made up of sodium hydroxide and hydrogen peroxide was used to remove the wax, pectin and natural pigment from the fiber;Sodium periodate was used as a selective oxidant to oxidize cotton fiber, and its structure and properties were tested. The results showed that the cotton fiber formed active group aldehyde group after oxidation. With the increase of sodium periodate concentration, the fiber was damaged, the crystallinity changes, the surface cracks occurred, and the breaking strength and elongation at break decreased in varying degrees.Thirdly, three schemes were designed to directly impregnate, soy protein coated oxidized cotton fiber, and add plant functional factor tannic acid to functionally modify cotton fiber, and test the antibacterial properties after washing. The results show that tannic acid can effectively enhance the combination of the extract and cotton fiber, which helps to improve the washing resistance of the function. The effects of plant function factor addition, treatment time and treatment temperature on the function during the modification process were studied. The optimal modification process parameters were determined as follows: the amount of tannic acid added was 2%,the modification treatment temperature was 90°C,and the modification treatment time was 60 min. Finally, the antibacterial and anti mite modified cotton fiber was prepared and its properties were tested. The results showed that the extracts of plant traditional Chinese medicine were firmly attached to the surface of the fiber.Compared with the unmodified cotton fiber, the average fineness of the antibacterial and anti-mites modified cotton fiber was basically unchanged, the breaking strength decreased slightly, and the breaking elongation increased.Dynamic and static friction and friction coefficient are increased. The antibacterial and anti-mite modified cotton fiber has an antibacterial rate of 96% against Staphylococcus aureus, and the repellent rate to mites is 64%.
