Plant herbal extracts with antibacterial,moth-proof and aromatic functions and plant functional factors with improved functional washing resistance of the modified wool fibers were selected to modify the wool fibers, giving them good antibacterial,moth-proof functions and strong aromatic odor, and good washing resistance.A number of properties and functions of the modified wool fibers with antibacterial,moth-proof and aromatic functions were tested and investigated.Firstly, plant herbs with antibacterial and moth-proof functions as well as plant functional factors and plant aromatic essential oils were screened, and LQ extract was selected as the antibacterial agent,SDG extract as the moth-proof agent,SLP extract as the plant functional factor, and AY essential oil as the aromatic microcapsule core material. And we did a test study on the addition amount of several extracts and finally determined the content of functional agents in the treatment solution as LQ extract 30 g/L,SDG extract 20 g/L,and SLP extract 9 g/L,respectively.Secondly,in order to promote the combination of subsequent plant herbal extracts with wool fibers, pretreatment was used to remove the hydrophobic lipid-like layer and scale layer on the wool surface, and the effects of three pretreatment methods on the mechanical properties of wool fibers and on the antibacterial modification treatment were investigated. The experimental results showed that the combined treatment of hydrogen peroxide and protease was more beneficial to the subsequent modification treatment.Compared with the original wool fibers, the pretreated wool fibers showed a 7.97% decrease in breaking strength and a 9.59% decrease in elongation at break.Again, the process parameters of concentration, treatment temperature, time and solution p H in the antibacterial and moth-proof modification treatment were investigated, and the experimental results showed that the suitable temperature, time and p H value for antibacterial and moth-proof treatment of wool fibers were 80 ?,60 min and 6.The amount of microcapsule addition, treatment temperature, time and cross-linking agent addition in the aromatic treatment were investigated, and the experimental results showed that the best process was The experimental results showed that the optimum process was 15 g/L of microcapsules,4 g/L of citric acid, and 60 min of treatment at room temperature. Finally, the antibacterial and mothproof aromatic modified wool fiber was prepared and tested for its basic properties and functionality. The results showed that the surface scales of the modified wool fibers were blunted and smoothed out by SEM photographs, and there were particles less than 1 um in diameter attached to the surface;the infrared spectra showed that the chemical structure of the modified wool fibers did not change;the X-ray diffraction curves showed that the degree of ordering of the wool fibers before and after the treatment was similar.Compared with the original wool fiber, the average fineness of the final antibacterial and mothproof aromatic modified wool fiber was reduced by 12.6%,the breaking strength was decreased by 3.8%,the elongation at break was reduced by 7.5%,and the moisture return rate was increased by 23.5%.The antibacterial and anti-moth aromatic modified wool fibers showed 99.67% and 93.64% antibacterial rate against S.aureus and E.coli respectively, and the visual anti-moth grade was 1B.After 12 weeks of natural storage, the antibacterial rate against S.aureus and E.coli were 97.83%and 88.23% respectively, and the anti-moth grade was 2B;the antibacterial rate against S.aureus and E.coli after 12 times of washing was 92.92% and 92.92%respectively.After 12 times of washing, the inhibition rate of Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli were 92.92% and 82.02% respectively, and the moth-proof grade was 3C;the sensory method assessed that the fragrance retention performance of the fibers after natural placement and washing had decreased to different degrees;the UV spectrophotometer method determined that the fragrance retention rate after 12 weeks of natural placement was 41%,and the fragrance retention rate after 12 times of washing was about 8%.
