Research On Traditional Wooden Furniture In Southern Fujian

Affected by multiple factors such as special natural environment,cultural background,craftsmanship,and architectural forms,traditional wooden furniture in southern Fujian has formed its unique regional style.Wooden furniture is an important part of the interior space of traditional architecture.It belongs to the category of the Joinery work or decoration since ancient times.The traditional wooden furniture of southern Fujian is not only closely related to the culture and customs of southern Fujian,but also has a certain relationship with traditional architecture in various aspects such as structure,form and scale,and has high research value.With the development and change of modern living modes,materials and craftsmanship,the living space of traditional furniture is becoming increasingly narrow,and related construction techniques are facing the dilemma of loss.At present,the special research on traditional furniture in China is mainly focused on production sites such as Beijing,Shanxi,Suzhou,and Guangdong,and rarely involves southern Fujian.Therefore,systematic investigation and research are urgently needed.This article takes the wooden furniture with traditional styles and practices in southern Fujian as the research object,and discusses the basic types,decoration techniques and themes,structural mortise and tenon forms through literature reading,physical research,and interviews with artisans.At the same time,combining the principles of ergonomics,analyze the relationship between traditional furniture and different building types such as houses,ancestral halls,and temples in terms of planar layout and spatial scale.Based on the above research,explore the traditional wooden furniture styles in southern Fujian and the differences between Quanzhou,Xiamen and Zhangzhou.For example,the furniture style in Quanzhou area is strong,the components are complex,gorgeous and heavy;the style of Zhangzhou is stable,the components are simple,simple and exquisite;Xiamen has both styles.Finally,it analyzes the problems and causes of the contemporary wooden furniture in appearance characteristics and combination methods,with a view to supplementing the research of traditional architecture and furniture in southern Fujian and providing a reference for the innovative design and production of modern wooden furniture.
