The paper-process reconstituted tobacco is based on tobacco waste such as tobacco stem and powder, adding a small amount of external fiber?softwood fiber and hardwood fiber?,and drawing on the paper making process for production,to obtain thin slices with similar shape as paper and similar performance as natural tobacco leaves. In recent years,a large number of studies have discussed the influence of the fiber morphology of reconstituted tobacco sheet on product properties, and the treatment of tobacco stem and external fibers has been focused on to improve the quality of remanufactured tobacco leaves. As a recombinant product, the raw material composition of the reconstituted tobacco leaves is complex, and the effect of tobacco stems, powder and external fibers on the properties of the substrate are also different. In order to analyze the degree of influence of fiber morphology of different raw materials on the performance of reconstituted tobacco sheet, this study starts with the changes in the fiber morphology of different raw material pulps and analyzes the weights of three main fiber materials on the performance of substrate in reconstituted tobacco sheet.Firstly, the beating characteristics of tobacco stem slurry and the degree of influence of tobacco stem fibers on the properties of the sheet were studied. The results showed that the physical properties of the substrate were closely related to the comprehensive effect of the fiber morphology of the tobacco pulp. The shear strength is mainly affected by the fiber coarseness, width and kink index. The fiber length and kink index are the most important factors affecting the elongation of the sheet. The fiber width and coarseness have a significant effect on the softness.Due to the short length of the tobacco stem fibers, the improved fiber binding force during the beating process is an important factor in determining the tensile strength of the sheet. It can be effectively controlled by the change of fiber morphology during the beating process.Secondly, the degree of influence of the tobacco stem, tobacco powder and external fiber on the properties of the substrate was studied. The results show that the beating of tobacco powder plays an important role on the properties of mixed pulp and tobacco substrate. In the case of only changing the beating degree of tobacco stem or outer fiber, the variation range of the bulk and softness of tobacco sheet was limited. However, the bulk, tensile index and softness of the reconstituted tobacco substrate are significantly affected by the beating degree of tobacco powder. When the beating degree of tobacco end was increased from 12°SR to 55°SR,the tensile strength index of the substrate increased by 46.93%,which was the largest increase compared with that of tobacco stem and outer fiber. While the bulk and softness decreased by 6.8%and 29.40%,respectively.Finally,the fiber was classified by sieving, and the results were compared with those of the fiber analyzer. It is believed that based on the characteristics of tobacco powder fibers, sieving can more accurately analyze the fiber characteristics. Also, the effects of different sizes of tobacco powder on sheet properties were studied. As a result,it was found that the bulk of the substrate can reach 2.15g/cm-3 when adding 50-80 mesh tobacco powder, which is close to the samples that are considered to have better comprehensive properties. At the same time,it has better softness and certain strength to ensure the normal operation of the paper machine. Therefore,in the actual production process of reconstituted tobacco sheet, the pulp should be kept as much as possible in the range of 50?80 mesh components during the beating process,in order to improve the bulk and softness and improve the quality of the domestic reconstituted tobacco sheet.
