With the increase of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gas emissions, the global warming phenomenon is becoming more and more intense.Climate change is having a serious impact on the global ecosystem and on the development of human societies.China passed the United States to become the world's largest carbon emitter in 2007.At the same time, the Chinese government has set the corresponding carbon emission reduction targets. As the center of human production and life, city is not only the main body of energy consumption, but also the disaster area of carbon emission.Cities are not immune to the negative externalities of carbon emissions. The flow of carbon emissions is not limited by the city boundary, and it will shift with the flow of production factors such as population flow, trade exchanges and technology diffusion among cities, thus affecting the ecological environment of the whole region, therefore,it is necessary to clarify the spatial correlation and spatial structure of carbon emissions between cities. This paper takes chengdu-chongqing urban agglomeration as an example to study the correlation of carbon emission and its influencing factors.Firstly, based on the energy consumption data of chengdu-chongqing urban agglomeration from 2000 to2017,the carbon emission of each city is calculated, and on this basis, the temporal and spatial evolution characteristics of carbon emission of urban agglomeration are analyzed, based on the gravity model, this paper constructs the correlation of carbon emissionamong cities and the analytical framework of the spatial correlation structure, and analyzes the characteristics of carbon emission structure from three aspects: the whole, the individual and the population, the paper finds out the factors that affect the correlation of carbon emission, and puts forward relevant policy suggestions for urban carbon emission reduction. The main findings of the study are summarized as follows:(1)The spatial correlation of urban carbon emissions in chengdu-chongqing urban agglomeration is significant. In terms of carbon emissions, the two cities and their surrounding areas show spatial Heterogeneity, while the other areas show spatial homogeneity. In terms of carbon intensity, the urban agglomerations as a whole showed a positive correlation, with high value agglomerations moving from the area around Chongqing to the southwest of Sichuan.(2)There is a complex relationship of carbon emission and the complex network form gradually exists in the urban agglomeration of Chengdu and Chongqing. From the individual characteristics of the network,Chengdu,Chongqing,Nanchong,Mianyang,Deyang and other cities are not only the center of the network, but also play an intermediary role, while Wanzhou,Dazhou and Ya'an are less central,on the edge of the network. From the group point of view, the chengdu-chongqing urban agglomeration gradually forms a stable sub-cluster structure, which is located in northeast Sichuan, around Chongqing, around Chengdu and southwest Sichuan.(3)Spatial distance, differences in economic development, differences in industrial structure and differences in urban population have significant effects on the correlation of carbon emissions in urban agglomerations. The closer the cities are to each other and the more similar the industrial structure, the easier it is to produce the correlation of carbon emissions, however, the greater the difference of economic development level between cities and the greater the difference of the proportion of urban population, the easier it is to produce the correlation of carbon emission.
