Research On The Relationship Between Academic Independent Director And Enterprise Green Innovation

In recent years,the problems of environmental pollution and energy shortage h ave become more and more serious.The state and enterprises have gradually rea lized that economic development should not sacrifice the ecological environment.Green innovation should be used to promote the coordination of the economy a nd ecological nature,and achieve sustainable development of society.Due to its industry characteristics,the heavily polluting industry should play a pioneering ro le in green innovation.However,green innovation is more difficult and riskier th an ordinary technological innovation.This makes enterprises often lack the initiat ive of green innovation,so it needs the supervision and promotion of relevant su bjects.As a highly-educated group with high independence,high professionalism,high reputation,and high morality,academic independent directors have strong s upervisory motivation and supervision ability in fulfilling their supervisory respon sibilities for corporate green innovation.This paper draws on the research methods and theoretical foundations of schol ars at home and abroad,analyzes the mechanism of the influence of academic ind ependent directors on green innovation,and constructs the corresponding conceptua l model.Then,using the 2010-2017 A-share heavy pollution industry listed compa nies as a research sample,discussed the influence of academic independent direct ors and their heterogeneity on corporate green innovation,and further paid attentio n to the internal control,absorptive capacity,environmental regulations and mark etization process as important factors inside and outside the enterprise on the rel ationship between academic independent directors and green innovation Moderatin g effect.The research results are as follows:(1)Academic independent directors can significantly promote the improvement of corporate green innovation perform ance.(2)After considering the heterogeneity of academic independent directors,t he green innovation effect caused by different classifications is quite different.M ale academic independent directors have stronger green innovation promotion effe ct than female academic independent directors.Compared with non-interlocking a cademic independent directors,interlocking academic independent directors have a stronger and more significant positive effect on green innovation.Due to lack o f time and energy,authoritative academic independent directors are often more li kely to become "vase independent directors",and their impact on green innovation is not significant.(3)Internal control and absorptive capacity have positively re gulated the positive role of academic independent directors in green innovation.However,due to the weak intensity of environmental regulation in China,the re gulatory effect of environmental regulation is not significant.In addition,the acc eleration of the marketization process will also enhance the influence of academi c independent directors on green innovation.Based on the above conclusions,in order to promote the improvement of the level of green innovation of Chinese e nterprises,this article puts forward suggestions to the Chinese government,enterp rises and academic independent directors based on the reform of the independent director system,the selection and evaluation mechanism of independent directors of listed companies and the fulfillment of the responsibility of academic indepe ndent directors.
