In recent years,natural gas has gained a huge market in China and abroad,and its consumption has been increasing day by day.It is predicted that by the year 2025,natural gas demand in China will reach 2000×10~5m~3 per year.Due to the large domestic demand,traditional natural gas holders can hardly satisfy natural gas storage requirement.Considering that liquefied natural gas(LNG)has a volume which is 1/600 of natural gas under normal condition,storing natural gas in the shape of LNG is a reasonable and potential way.This research focused on engineering design of LNG tanks in central China.Also engineering design of the tank farm containing the LNG tanks are performed.The tank farm holds 2 LNG storage tanks,both 50000 m~3 in size,also in the tank farm,there are 14 gasoline tanks,each 3000 m~3 in size,and 12 diesel tanks,each 3000 m~3in size.The whole throughput of the tank farm is as large as 108.34 t/a.The engineering design includes several aspects,they are overall technical design,general drawing,fire control,investment estimation and economic assessment.While by overall technical design,the detail of product design,process design,equipment selection and automatic control are introduced.HYSYS has been used in this project,the result shows the process is available.We also used PHAST to simulate radiation distance of pool fire and vapor cloud range.The simulation results show that the general drawing and LNG tank farm layout are reasonable.
