Recent years,with the expansion of China's urban population,people's lives are more and more dependent on transportation,with the increase of vehicle ownership,the transportation sector has become one of the main sources of urban greenhouse gas emissions and air pollutants emissions.Urban transport can be divided into urban passenger transport and urban freight transport according to the transport objects.The urban passenger transport system carries the flow and allocation of urban population resources,and has great potential for energy conservation and emission reduction.Public transport is a kind of green and low-carbon passenger transport mode.The transfer of travel mode to public transport is not only conducive to meeting the traffic demand of residents for travel and alleviating road congestion,but also can release the huge carbon emission reduction potential of urban passenger transport sector.Compared with the rail transit,the ground conventional public transport has a larger scale in China's urban development,plays an important role in the urban public transport system,it plays a role in carbon emission reduction.The efficiency of ground conventional public transport measures the relationship between the input of resources such as roads,vehicles and personnel and the output of passenger traffic volume.The higher the efficiency of public transport is,the higher the status and utilization of internal resources of ground conventional public transport is.Taking passenger volume as the only output index,the implicit assumption is that the higher the efficiency of public transport,the more residents tend to travel on the ground conventional public transport,the change of traffic structure,and the corresponding reduction of traffic carbon emissions.In order to verify whether there is an impact relationship between the efficiency of conventional public transport on the ground and the carbon emissions of urban passenger transport sector,and how much the impact is,this paper takes the data of 35 central cities in China from 2010 to 2016 as samples,builds a model and conducts empirical research.The main contents and conclusions are as follows: first,based on DEA method,the efficiency of urban surface conventional public transport in 35 central cities of China is calculated.The results show that the efficiency of urban surface conventional public transport in the eastern region is mainly affected by scale efficiency,while that in the central and Western Regions is mainly affected by pure technical efficiency.Secondly,using the super efficiency SBM model to calculate and rank the efficiency,the results show that the public transport efficiency of our cities has a downward trend in time,and the public transport efficiency of our cities has a downward trend in space.Third,the carbon emissions of urban passenger transport in 35 cities of China in 2010-2017 are measured by the bottom-up method.Fourthly,taking the efficiency of ground conventional public transport as the core independent variable and the carbon emission of urban passenger transport as the dependent variable for regression analysis,the results show that the efficiency of ground conventional public transport has a significant inhibitory effect on the carbon emission of urban passenger transport,and there is a threshold effect of income and population.Further subdividing the departments,the efficiency of ground conventional public transport has a restraining effect on the carbon emissions of private cars and ground conventional public transport.Based on the empirical results,this paper puts forward relevant suggestions to improve the efficiency of conventional public transport on the ground and play its role in carbon emission reduction.Finally,this paper points out the innovation and future research direction of the paper.
