The plume is a significant factor affecting the development of fire.And the plume characteristics are a classical problem of fire dynamics.A lot of theoretical and experimental studies have been carried out on plume characteristics,most of which are aimed at the ideal plume under windless conditions.However,In the course of a real fire,the properties of fire plume will become more complicated under the influence of environmental wind speed.Therefore,it is more practical to design the experimental device for studying plume properties under horizontal wind and carry out corresponding experimental studies.While acquiring the characteristics and development rules of fire,it is also possible to predict the danger and organize effective prevention or fire prevention programs.And according to the experimental results,we can not only obtain the characteristics and development rules of fire,but also predict its danger and organize effective prevention or fire-fighting programs.In this paper,the plume characteristics under horizontal wind were studied by designing an experimental device and combining experimental and simulation data.In this paper,the design idea and process of the experimental device are mainly introduced.The design of the experimental device mainly focuses on the low-speed DC wind tunnel and data acquisition system which provide horizontal wind speed.The design of lowspeed DC wind tunnel includes contour design,power section design,stable section design and test section design.Through the analysis of numerical simulation results and measured data,the flow field quality of the wind tunnel meets the basic requirements of this project for low-speed DC wind tunnel,and the flow field is overall stable and has good uniformity.In the design of data acquisition system,intelligent video data acquisition is realized by programming,and mass flow,mass loss rate and temperature can be measured.The whole set of experimental device can provide reliable experimental conditions and accurate data results for this project and subsequent research.Secondly,the experimental conditions and data processing methods were defined,and the plume characteristics exploration experiment under horizontal wind was designed,and the variation rules of plume heat release rate,temperature distribution,mass flow rate and flame shape characteristics under different wind speeds and different fire power conditions were analyzed.The results show that: the wind speed increases the mass loss rate of the whole combustion process,and the higher the wind speed,the shorter the whole combustion process time;the average inclination angle of the fire source increases with the increase of the wind speed,and the change trend of the inclination angle is consistent with Thomas theoretical model;the tangent angle of the distribution curve of the highest temperature position of the fire plume is basically consistent with the flame tilt angle under the action of horizontal wind In the complete combustion stage,the mass flow at the same level increases with the increase of horizontal wind speed.Finally,FDS software is used to simulate the experiment,and the simulation results are basically consistent with the experimental data.In the numerical simulation,the change laws of tilt angle,temperature and mass flow still meet the experimental results.There are 55 figures,6 tables and 92 references in this paper.
