With the vigorous development of the shipping industry,the risk of encountering collision and grounding accidents increases for ships in sailing.generally,the failure of the damaged hull girder is bending rupture,however,for the single side bulk carrier with poor shear capacity,the shear capacity will be further weakened in the event of collision or grounding.Therefore,the evaluation and verification of residual ultimate shear strength of damaged bulk carriers is necessary.The reliability of the residual ultimate shear strength of 2 damaged(collision and grounding)bulk carriers is analyzed in this paper.Then the checking criterion of residual ultimate shear strength of bulk carriers is proposed based on the target reliability,consequently,the checking of residual shear strength of bulk carriers is done.Main contents of this paper are as follows:(1)The residual ultimate shear strength and the corresponding probability characteristics of L/4、L/2、3L/4 profiles of damaged bulk carriers is calculated using the formula method;(2)Referring to the extreme value forecast of wave bending moment,the prediction parameters of wave shearing force of a week and 25 years are derived using the extremum theory.(3)The statistical parameters of the ratio of still water shearing force of single cabin damaged bulk carriers are calculated,and the corresponding probability distribution type is determinated by K-S probability distribution test.(4)The reliability of residual ultimate shear strength of the L/4、L/2、3L/4 profiles of 2 damaged bulk carriers is calculated and the corresponding reliability sensitivity analysis is accomplished.(5)The checking criterion of residual ultimate shear strength of damaged bulk carriers is established based on the statistical data and reliability analysis,furthermore,the checking of residual ultimate shear strength of target ship is accompished.The studies of this paper can provide useful guidance for the shear strength designing of the bulk carriers.
