With the rapid development of economic construction,a large number of all kinds of high-rise building such as high-rise residential building,office building,TV tower,airport terminal and large bridge project are made.Due to the structure characteristics of the high-rise building itself,when they are in a earthquake and wind conditions,they are more likely to happen collapsed,the dumping and damage,thus the seismic capacity of increasing their protection of buildings,Bridges,resist the destruction of the earthquake,wind function has important practical significance.When viscous dampers is working,damper piston follow structure movement and damper damping medium generate heat with the friction in the flowing through the damping hole on the piston,the earthquake input energy can be converted to heat dissipation.So as a new kind of shock absorber is widely used around the world in the design of high building and bridge engineering due to the viscous damping apparatus for good damping characteristics.Paper first analyses the structure characteristics of viscous dampers and damping energy dissipation mechanism.According to the theory of fluid mechanics,the calculation model of viscous dampers and the formula for calculation of damping force of viscous damper is established.This work provides a theoretical basis to viscous damper design.According to the requirements of engineering design,a gap type double pole viscous dampers is developed and its related structural parameters of viscous dampers is determined.The main structure parameters on the influence law of viscous dampers are analyzed in the simulation.A new viscous dampers prototype is made and test its dynamic force using the Beijing university of technology laboratory test equipment of diagnosis and treatment of engineering earthquake and structure for the related experiment.The viscous dampers curve between damping force and displacement and velocity is obtained.The relevant theory of viscous dampers has been verified through the performance parameters of viscous dampers.The work of this paper has established the foundation for the viscous dampers to the final design and engineering applications.
