Earthquake has characteristics of unpredictability and huge destructivity. Seismic technology is widely used in various forms, providing a guarantee for safety of people's life and property, and it is constantly developing improvement; viscous dampers, which is widely applied in engineering as a damping device, is still developing and improving during practices, which lay the basis on further scientific research. Performing experimental study and finite element analysis, these dissertation focusing on the research about mechanical properties of the orifice type viscous fluid damper, in particular the relationship between damping force and speed.Mechanics performance test of orifice type hydro cylinder fluid damper is applied under different working conditions, for the purpose of studying the relationship between the damping force and other factors which including the damping medium, the number of damping holes, the vibration frequency, amplitude, and the environment temperature. The nonlinear speed- damping force curve is fitted relying on the analysis of test data, and further discusses are made about how the factors of damping medium, damping hole number and environmental temperature have effects on the relationship between damping force and piston speed; In the fluid analysis software, the finite element computation of scale component and full scale component are performed respectively, both the damping force- displacement curve and the damping force- speed curve can be plotted utilizing the data extracted from the calculation results, to verify the validity of the finite element model, the analysis results and test results in the two curves were compared respectively.Analysis of dynamic time history is performed on the finite element model of bridge with viscous dampers, and energy dissipation capability effect of viscous dampers is verified by comparing response of internal force and displacement of key positions before and after the shock absorption; furthermore, by changing the damper parameters in the model, it can be observed how different speed index and damping coefficient have influence on the damping force and damping effect of bridge structure.
