A Study On The Influencing Factors Of The Differences In Energy Efficiency Between China And EU

In today’s world,the fate of a country is constrained by its control of energy resources and its rational use.China’s demand for energy consumption has been growing with the rapid development of the national economy.However,the low energy efficiency has to some extent hindered the healthy and steady development of China’s national economy.The EU,as the region with the highest efficiency in energy use,is at the forefront of the world in terms of technology,ideas,and policies.Therefore,it is of far-reaching significance for the study to determine which factors contribute to the large differences in current energy efficiency between China and the EU and the mechanisms of these influencing factors.This is of great significance for improving China’s energy efficiency and strengthening China-EU cooperation in energy.This thesis selects panel data of 29 countries between 1990 and 2016 of China and European Union,and uses the generalized Cobb-Douglas production function that incorporates the Bernstein model and the time factor to construct a general regression model and a differential analysis model.The variables include energy efficiency,per capita gdp,and technological progress.,foreign direct investment,energy prices,energy structure,industrial structure and urbanization level.The study of the factors affecting China-EU energy efficiency and the differences in the differences between the various factors will affect the differences in energy efficiency in China and Europe.The results of the study indicate that:1.Increasing per capita GDP,technological progress,optimizing energy structure,rising energy prices,optimizing industrial structure,and accelerating urbanization will all promote the improvement of energy efficiency in China and Europe;the increase in FDI will prompt the emergence of energy efficiency in China and Europe.Decline slightly.2.The widening or shrinking of the differences in per capita GDP,technological level,energy structure,energy prices,industrial structure,and urbanization level between China and Europe will cause the difference in energy efficiency between China and Europe to expand or shrink;on the contrary,the expansion of the FDI difference between China and Europe will increase.Or shrinking it will cause the difference in energy efficiency between China and Europe to shrink or expand.The purpose and significance of this study is to promote the cooperation between China and the EU in improving energy efficiency,so that both sides can cooperate on energy saving and emission reduction based on their respective comparative advantages in energy conservation and emission reduction,so as to continuously improve China’s energy efficiency.Reduce its pressure on the environment.
