In order to achieve two-way communication flow between consumers,suppliers,and grid devices,the smart grid must deploy a power distribution network which is the Advanced Metering Infrastructure(AMI).The sensor nodes in the AMI network are embedded devices with limited resources,and the links between devices usually have high packet loss rate,low bandwidth,and instability.In order to meet the routing requirements of low power and lossy networks(LLNs),the ROLL working group proposed the RPL routing protocol.Though RPL routing protocol which considers the quality of the link is applicable to the AMI network,it cannot optimize the limited power problem of nodes in the network.For the energy balance and link reliability problems existing in the network,it is very meaningful to research and improve the RPL routing protocol algorithms.This thesis firstly introduces the smart grids,smart grid communication network and AMI network,describes the research status of the RPL routing protocol at home and abroad,and researches the content of RPL routing protocol.In order to improve the energy-balanced problem,this thesis firstly improves the RPL routing protocol algorithm by using the remaining energy metric to select the node with more remaining energy as an prefer parent node which formed a link with its child nodes.When the algorithm only considers energy metrics,it will make nodes have high packet loss rates when transmitting data.To solve this problem,this thesis proposes an energy-balanced routing algorithm,ETEN-RPL,which combines ETX metrics and residual energy metrics by a certain weight ratio in RPL routing protocols.The protocol considers both the issue of energy balance and the reliability of data on the path.When approaching the root node,the algorithm will be more likely to select nodes with more remaining energy;when away from the root node,the algorithm will be more likely to a path with a lower expected number of transmissions.ETEN-RPL algorithm considers both nodes' energy consumption balance and the reliability of data on the path.Finally,in the Cooja simulator of Contiki platform,the simulation of the protocol was implemented.The results of simulation show that compared with the algorithm based on ETX metrics and algorithm based on residual energy metrics,the ETEN-RPL algorithm reduces the overall energy consumption of the network and improves the network lifetime and network stability.
