Nowadays, the power plant transformation becomes more and more in-depth,meanwhile,it has become an important issue to study how to reduce the power consumption rate of the plant from the subtleties. For a conventional thermal power unit, the electricity consumption of the air and gas system accounts for nearly 30% of the plant electricity consumption rate. Therefore,it is of great practical significance to carry out research on the energy consumption characteristics of the air and gas system. This paper takes the air and gas system of a conventional 300 MW thermal power unit as the research object.Under the premise of collecting a large amount of test data, the theory of the corresponding air and gas system is used as the basis. The energy consumption characteristics of the air and gas system of the unit are thoroughly studied.Research and comprehensive analysis of the energy consumption of the air and gas system from the perspective of coal quality, operating oxygen content, equipment leakage, and resistance along the way. Finally, combined with the actual engineering of the power plant transformation, the demonstration and implementation of the induced draft fan, primary air blower, and oxidation blower have been demonstrated from a theoretical perspective, and the optimal oxygen content optimization recommendations have been put forward for the practical operating conditions of the unit, which provides valuable experience for air and gas system and optimization of the same type of unit.
