Connecting rod which complexity of stress, poor working conditions as the main force supporting part can lead to engine failure because of the bolt yield, bearing fracture and other failure forms.Fracture splitting process which breakthrough the traditional technology, use the natural fracture section by directional control realized the pinpoint of connecting rod body and cover.Aiming at the actual problem of high failure rate of certain type splitting connecting rod manufacture by well-known company in domestic, the failure analysis and fracture splitting process improvement study are carried out.In this paper, starting from failure analysis, ensured the failure area and the influencing factors by finite element method, and then the fracture splitting process are studied and the relevant test is verified, concrete work as follows:1.Failure analysis are carried out by by finite element method.Firstly, connecting rod of fracture splitting and other related parts solid models are established use Solidworks, and assembled according to the actual assembly requirements;Secondly, modal analysis of connecting rod are carried out by use ANSYS Workbench, and obtained the natural frequency and vibration mode of free state and restrained state, and explore the relationship with the natural frequency of the engine; Finally the static and fatigue failure are analyzed, obtained the fatigue life cloud, safety factor cloud, equivalent stress cloud, and ensure the failure area and the influencing factors.2.According to the failure analysis of the connecting rod,the influence of the processing technology on the failure of the connecting rod is analyzed, and the improvement measures of fracture splitting connecting rod are proposed.3.Fatigue tests on pre-modified and post-modified connecting rods were carried out to verify the effectiveness of the process.
