The overhead transmission line is always built in the open and wide area,and it is arranged as a huge crisscrossed network.The length of the transmission line is reaches hundreds of kilometers or even thousands kilometers.In order to guarantee the equipments running in a safe and reliable state,it is important to patrol the lines effectively.In recent years the application of unmanned aerial vehicle(UAV)technology in line inspection was currently a hot research area,and this technology made power line patrol more efficient and safe.In this paper,the development and current study of six rotor UAV were introduced and the flight principle of six rotor UAV was studied firstly.Then,the application of unmanned six rotor UAV in line inspection were analyzed and summarized.In addition,the design principle,system structure and hardware selection of the unmanned patrol system of six rotor UAV were discussed in detail.The contents,method and procedure of line inspection by using unmanned six-rotor UAV were provided in this paper,and the picture of power line typical defects from the power line inspection was analyzed and processed.Moreover,defect judgment,disaster inspections and special infrared patrol applications were presented.Text results showed that six rotor UAV has great potential application in power line inspection,and the paper put forward reasonable proposals above.
