The KC characteristics as a comprehensive representation of the suspension system characteristics are closely related to the vehicle handling preformance.Two problems need to be solved in the suspension design process: how the suspension KC characteristics affect the handling performance at the vehicle level;how to achieve the expected suspension KC characteristics through detailed design at the suspension level.The target cascading method will be applied to study two aspects in this paper.For the handling preformance and KC characteristics are affected by many uncertainty factors(suspension hard points,bushing stiffness,etc.),the design for 6Sigma(DFSS)is applied to robust optimization of handling preformance and KC charactristics,which improves the robustness of vehicle handling performance and suspension performance.In this paper,the research situation of vehicle handling stability,the suspension KC characteristics and the robust optimization design are systematically reviewed firstly,and then the three-degree-of-freedom vehicle model is analyzed and the KC characteristics are analysed qualitatively,Finally,a robust optimization method is used to optimize the vehicle handling preformance and the suspension KC characteristics with 6Sigma robust optimal design.For the vehicle level,a 6Sigma robust optimal design model is established by using the Trucksim vehicle model based on the characteristic,taking the key KC characteristic parameter as the optimization variable and the objective evaluation index of steady static circular test as the optimization objective,and the optimization results are compared and analyzed with the deterministic optimization.For the suspension level,a 6Sigma robust optimal design model is established by using the ADAMS/Car suspension model based on the detailed structure,taking the rigid point and the bushing stiffness as the optimization variable,the key KC characteristic parameter as the optimization objective,and the optimization result is compared with the quality distribution of the initial design point,which improves the robustness of the suspension KC characteristics.The results show that the robustness of the characteristics of the suspension can be greatly improved by combining the cascading method with the 6Sigma robust optimization design.At the same time,it can improve the optimization efficiency by dividing the optimization process into the whole vehicle and the suspension level,which provides a new idea for the robustness design of the suspension KC characteristic.
