Nowadays,it has become a consumer oriented society,and the public's cognition,life needs and lifestyle have changed.Compared with the former elite culture society,the product of mass culture occupies a place in the way of "quantity".Some buildings which rely on mass culture show the tendency of image.This tendency has a special preference to the appearance of the architecture,and more and more attention has been paid to the architectural epidermis and body in the design,and the controversy is also very controversial.A lot of architects and theorists have expressed doubts and even boycotted attitudes.However,many comments are based on the traditional architecture,and do not fully consider the environment and motivation of the architecture.Therefore,it is unavoidable to doubt that the evaluation is one-sided.These buildings should be supported by the immediate theoretical support.In view of the current social background and the correlation between image and consumption,the author takes consumer society as the background to study this phenomenon.Through sufficient literature collection and cross disciplinary background analysis,we can clarify the background and motivation of the building of image building.Through the analysis of two subjects of consumption and image building,the problem is restricted to the consumption relationship between people and objects built around the building image,and the consumer demand and consumption essence of the building is analyzed,and what role the architectural image plays in it is revealed.In addition,a large number of architectural cases are collected,and its architectural properties,construction motivation and operation conditions are arranged and analyzed.The important feature of the image building is the image consumption value.According to the consumption value of the consumer society,the image building is divided into three categories: the image building based on the symbolic value consumption,Image building based on entertainment value consumption and image consumption based on consumption value.Finally,through the economic perspective,it analyzes the demand and consumption view of the main consumer groups,such as investors,government and consumers,to illustrate how the controversial architectural image plays the role.It also points out that the controversial architecture of the image is the product of mass culture.It follows the logic of consumption,not the architectural standard respected by the elite culture,which can reflect the social reality of contemporary architecture,and should be valued and considered reasonably.
