| There is no doubt that the word“modern”in modern architecture is closely related to western countries. In the 20th century,China experienced a radical change not only in politics, but also in economics, society and culture. As far as architecture is concerned, the 20th century witnesses a thoroughgoing change and its complete separation from China’s centuries of history. If compare Chinese traditional architectural culture to a towering tree which gathers the livelihood essence, modern architecture without traditional culture likes an uprooted tree which is unable to grow.Huizhou culture has a well-established and long history, and Hui-style architecture represents the Huizhou culture and regional features. As one of the important forms of modern architecture in China,Hui-style architecture is not only the important architectural cultural heritage, but also an indispensable part in sustaining regional cultural tradition. In addition,it has unique aesthetic value and cultural value. With the development of design localization, more designers begin to incorporate the Hui-style architectural culture into the design works. However,as for the inheritance and development of Hui-style architecture in modern Chinese architecture, designers are constrained by simple imitation of architectural form, ignoring study on the value in Hui-style architecture. Therefore, from the value of“form”and“spirit”in Hui-style architecture, this thesis carries out a study about the value of traditional Hui-style architecture, analyzes practical cases and explores inheritance and development of Hui-style architecture’s“form”and“spirit”in modern architecture.Besides, through personal practice exploration about overall design of People Square Culture and Art Center,my ideas about specific items will also be presented in this thesis. |
