| Nowadays,shipping industries develop rapidly with a high demand on seafarers,but on the contrary,seafarer labor force is decreasing with increasing wages.In this instance,some Chinese shipping companies started to employ cheaper foreign seafarers,which can perfectly balance seafarer’s population and labor cost.This new management mode of multi-cultural seafarer team has been accepted by more and more companies.But still,there are problems in this seafarer management mode,which may cause serious risks for shipping companies.How to prevent risks is an essential question for an effective multi-cultural seafarer team.This thesis applies the theory of human resource risk management in solve practical problem in multi-culture seafarer team management.Firstly,by collecting plenty of information of Chinese seafarer management industry,this thesis briefly analyzes multi-culture seafarer team’s beginning,forming and its current development in other main seafarer-exporting countries of the world.Secondly,this thesis analyzes the problems in seafarer management flow,and moreover,finds out the reasons of problems and sums up the main risks of multi-cultural seafarer team.A new idea is mentioned in this part that seafarer team is a sort of self-directed team.Based on theories of asymmetric information and Maslow’s hierarchy of needs,the thesis carries out risk identification and assessment,and put forward strategies on risks of asymmetric information and high turnover.And at last,taking Tianjin YX Shipping Group Co.,Ltd as example,a series of risk management strategies are provided according to this company’s practical situation.Currently,Chinese multi-cultural seafarer team has been developing just for a short period;there is neither few successful experience nor overall manage system.For this reason,this thesis is written for those shipping companies,which are ready to apply multi-cultural seafarer team management mode.The writer hopes it can guide shipping companies to prevent risks of multi-cultural seafarer team from a more systematic and more comprehensive perspective.Therefore research on Risk Management of Multi-cultural Seafarer Team has practical significance. |
