With the smart grid entering the stage of upgrading,smart meters are widely used as a link between power companies and users,and their reliability is not only related to the safe and reliable operation of smart grids,but also to the vital interests of the thousands of households.How to ensure the safe and reliable long-time operation of smart meters is a hot issue in the current electric meter industry.However,the standard system of the reliability of the smart meter is not perfect in our country,and it cannot rely on the existing standard to evaluate the reliability level of the smart meter.Therefore,research on the reliability of smart meter is a very meaningful work.This paper investigates the reliability prediction technology and the method of Failure Modes Effect and Criticality Analysis(FMECA)of the smart meter.The main tasks are as follows:(1)According to the failure rate of the smart meter obeys the bathtub curve,the failure characteristics of the smart meter are analyzed,the service life of the smart meter depends on the length of the accidental failure period.And the basic theory of reliability of the smart meter is studied.The idea of using reliability prediction and FMECA method for smart meter reliability analysis during the detailed design stage.(2)This paper studies the reliability prediction method and the expected manual of the smart meter,and according to the characteristic that the life span of the accidental failure period obeys the exponential distribution,it is determined that the component stress method and the Telcordia SR-332 prediction manual are most suitable for the reliability prediction of the smart meter at the detailed design stage,and optimize the reliability prediction process of the smart meter.Then,based on the component stress method,the life index of a typical D-type singlephase smart meter is predicted,and the calculation method of the failure rate of non-standard components using the weighted coefficient is put forward.According to the predicted results,the components which are greatly affected by the stress are analyzed,and the improvement measures such as derating design and thermal design are given.(3)This paper analyzes the FMECA method of smart meter,simplifies the FMECA flow of the smart meter,and takes the D-type single-phase smart meter as the analysis object,defines its severity category,and statistically analyzes the failure mode,failure cause and failure influence of the D-type single-phase smart meter.And an example analysis of the D-type singlephase meter has been completed,the potential fault problems and weak links have been discovered based on the degree of product damage.At the same time,the field data of the Dtype single-phase smart meter in 2016 years was collected and counted,compared with the FMECA results,through summing FMECA practical application effect of smart meter reliability is a great help.(4)Based on the research results of this paper,the reliability analysis software of smart meter was developed,and the reliability prediction and FMECA function of the smart meter were realized,which brings great convenience to the meter manufacturer.
