Highway traffic is an important force to promote the upgrade of industrial spatial structure and the industrial spatial structure also can facilitate the development of highway traffic.There is a complex and close connection between this two forces.Studying the relationship between the two not only enriched related research but also provided support for the further development.The purpose of this research is to explore the coordinated adaption between regional highway traffic and industrial spatial structure based on fractal theory,center-periphery model and coupling coordination theory.Taking Shaanxi Province as an example to measure the fractal features of regional road network: specifically,the first is to use ArcGIS to change the lengths of gird network which is covering the regions of Shaanxi,we also need to record the number of grids that passed by roads in the mean time and the next is to calculate the fractal dimensions.Then use SPSS to examine the evolution of industrial spatial structure.Finally,based on these calculations,we use coupling coordination model to explore the adaption between fractal dimensions and industrial structure.The results show that road networks in Shaanxi all exhibit significant self-similarity on a certain scale,but the overall road network's coverage is not good.Only Xi'an has a road network with a fractal dimension of 1.5,most of the rest are below 1.4.At the same time,the evolution of industry specialization in all regions of Shaanxi follows the U-shaped law,and both are in the left half of the U-shaped curve.Regarding the adaption between road networks and industrial spatial structure,we can find that the coordination of Xi'an and Weinan is the best.The road network of Xianyang and Tongchuan is in a good layout but their industrial spatial structures need to be upgraded.In the southern Shaanxi,as well as Baoji and Yanan,both road network and industrial spatial structure need to be further improved.We also found something in this research.First of all,it is effective to apply the fractal theory to the research of road network.Secondly,the evolution of industrial spatial structure is consistent with relevant theories and researches.Last,it is feasible to apply the coupling coordination model to the study which is exploring the relationship between fractal features and industrial spatial structure.
