With the flourishment of comprehensive tall buildings,new demand on the function of tall buildings are put forward,leading to a large number of buildings being unable to meet the new requirement.It is essential to renovate theses deficient structures since that it costs a lot to reconstruct.It is of great significant to evaluate the seismic behavior of the renovated structure to make sure that its performance can meet the requirement of present seismic code.However,renovation of tall buildings is not common and there is still a broad space for development.At present,the renewal of the structures always focuses on the local behavior while rare study on the global behavior has been performed.With the aim to study the seismic performance of renovated structure globally,by taking a comprehensive two-tower tall building as example,study of the global seismic behavior after renovated with a swimming pool was performed as followings:Firstly,the modal analysis and spectrum response analysis were conducted to understand the dynamic characteristics such as vibration mode,natural period,and other indexes,including inter-story displacement and structural drift.Based on the comparison of the results of SATWE and ETABS2016,the rationality of the finite element models was verified.Besides,the influence of the swimming pool on the performance was analyzed and the result showed that no obvious change of the performance was found.However,it had great influence on the local beam and local column,and the influence should not be neglected.Then,the elastic time-history analysis was performed with 3 ground motions,that is,EL-CENTRO wave,TAFT wave and Lanzhou artificial wave.The influence of swimming pool,the location of swimming pool was analyzed and the results was compared with the result of spectrum response analysis.It indicated that the enveloped result of elastic time-history analysis was greater than that of spectrum response analysis,so it is essential to carry out time-history analysis to have a better understanding of the structural behavior under earthquake.It is also of great importance to choose ground motion since that the spectrum characteristics greatly affects the dynamic response of structure.Finally,to further study the influence of swimming pool under rare earthquake,the elastic-plastic dynamic time-history was performed.The result demonstrated that the two-tower tall building can still have good behavior and it again demonstrated the importance of the time-history analysis.There is rare research on the overall behavior of renovated tall building,and the study on the seismic performance of two-tower tall building renovated with swimming can provide the scientific and useful basis for the renovation of the design and construction of similar engineering application.
