Two-tower structure with a large podium is a kind of common and complexhigh-rise building’ structure, its features of structure: the upper structure is two ormore than two towers, and a large podium connected to the tower is at the bottom oftowers. With the shortage of city’s land, two-tower structure with a large podium hasbecome a popular form of structure, the podium at the bottom of high-rise building isdesigned as a shopping mall, the upper part is designed as office or residence. Dueto the large shrinkage of vertical shape, reduce largely the stiffness of the upperstructure, the part of age shape is easy to form the weak part. When the structureshrinks eccentrically, the reverse effect of the whole structure is very obvious, theforce vertical members surrounding at the substructure increased considerably. Due tothe relative independence of each tower, it make structure modes complex, give a bigdifficulty to seismic design of buildings.This paper mainly introduced the seismic response analysis of the severaltheoretical calculation methods, and on this basis, give a two-tower building with alarge podium as an example, under the use of the large finite element softwareSAP2000, establish three different-symmetric-relationship of two-tower structuremodels with a large podium, the models of two-tower structure are frame structures,getting the structure response spectrum analysis and time history analysis, analysis ofthe structure under severe earthquake in displacement and layer displacement angle.The main research content include:1. Establish three different-symmetric-relationship of two-tower structure modelswith a large podium,to calculate the response spectrum and time history analysis ofthe structure under floor horizontal displacement and layer displacement angle, getseismic response of two-tower structure models with a large podium.2. Through the contrast of three structural horizontal-displacement and layer-displacement-angle, we respectively get its seismic response analysis, Comparingseismic performance of two-tower structure with different symmetric relationship, inorder to find out the rational arrangement of the tow-tower structure, to guide therational distribution of architectural design.The paper was funded by the major projects “Research of the seismic responsecharacteristics and seismic resistance and shock absorption of irregular structure”,which supported by the natural science of colleges and universities in the province ofAnhui.(Number:KJ2014ZD07).
