Competitive product,refer to the products(including services)which form the competitive relationship of a direct or indirect competition between each other.Comparative analyzing of competitive products,and summarize to get the valuable conclusions for own products' design or optimization,as the process called competing products analysis.By competitive analysis before the development of new products or improvement of existing products,we can learn the development trend of existing products,the problems of our own products,and the relative strengths and weaknesses compared with competitors,and the part is worth learning of competitors-this all can provide valuable reference for the planning and design of products.In general,user research includes all activities of research and analysis that carried out for the development of product,rather than just "researching users",so competitive products analysis is also defined as a common and very important method in the study of the entire user research system.This paper studied the methods of competitive products analysis in the user research,and focused on the value of the analysis to design,but not involve too much in market research or marketing analysis.The general process on competitive product analysis includes clearing the purpose of analysis,finding competitive products,selecting the dimension of analysis,products analyzing,and exporting analysis results.This paper reviewed the entire process of competitive products analysis,while focusing on the middle of the three links.Combined with the case which the author himself had taken part in,the paper explored the applicability and limitations of each means,and the problems in the application need to pay attention;Additionally,this article also compared the competitive product analysis in general hardware products and software products,to find the similarities and differences of each method.And the article brought several concepts and methods related to market analysis in the competitive products analysis and brought users in the scope of the analysis,it is desirable to improve the application of existing methods,at the same time to enrich the method's selection,expecting that may provide some valuable reference for practice on competitive products analysis.
