With the introduction of ‘Made in China 2025' and ‘Industry4.0',intelligent manufacturing has become the development of the manufacturing industry in China.Digitalization is the prerequisite for intelligent manufacturing.Model based definition(MBD)technology is the trend of the digitization.The intelligent manufacturing technology is gradually applied by the marine diesel engine manufacturing.Therefore,the manufacturing enterprise requires the ability to create MBD models quickly and makes 3D models became the only supporter of product information to meet the growing demand for modeling.The key parts of marine diesel engine was as the research object in this paper.Then,a rapid MBD modeling method for marine diesel engine parts based on user-defined features(UDF)was proposed.Specifically,first,the design features of the marine diesel engine key parts was analyzed,the UDF Library of marine diesel engine was built.Then,the rapid connection method of 3D feature was proposed to realize UDF rapid positioning.Finally,a 3D dimension integration method based on UDF was proposed to implement 3D intelligent annotation to meet the requirements of MBD model quickly created.The specific research content of this paper is as follows:(1)The overall of the MBD rapid modeling technology for the key parts of marine diesel engine is determined and the key technology is expounded.The data system between the system work mode and the functional modules are clearly defined;(2)The modeling characteristics of the design features of the key parts were studied.The custom features were constructed by the parameterized modeling technology.The model parameter management mechanism was studied and the feature library was created.(3)The positioning process of UDF was studied,the characteristics of feature modeling were analyzed,and the rapid connection method of custom features was proposed according to the auxiliary location mark.(4)The rules of 3D dimension generation were analyzed,and the dimension metadata is defined.The intelligent generation method of 3D dimension for key parts of marine diesel engine was proposed.Based on the above research,a rapid modeling system for the marine diesel engine key parts MBD model was developed on the NX platform.The method was verified by the rapid modeling process of some examples.
