Research On The Design Strategy Of Public Spaces Around The Ancient City Wall Of Zhaoqing

Since the beginning of the 21 st century,China's urbanization has developed rapidly and the scale of urban construction is unprecedented.This has caused an unprecedented huge impact on cultural heritage and its environment has become the most critical historical stage in the protection of cultural heritage.On the other hand,Western countries began to protect their cultural heritage since the Renaissance.After 200 years of development,the protection of cultural relics has been improved theoretically and technologically.The scope of their theoretical protection has been expanded from heritage to individuality.All aspects of history,culture,society,spirit,customs,and economy covered by the environment are worth pondering.This article selects the public space around the ancient city wall of Zhaoqing as research objects.Through the study of the protection of historical and cultural relics and the related theory of public space,this paper puts forward the research perspective of public space system theory under the background of urban wall protection,and combines the public life behavior patterns of local residents and foreign tourists to address the spatial quality of public space around the ancient city wall of Zhaoqing.With the problems of dilapidation and weakening of space activity,we put forward and constructed the core values of “multiple integration of walking priority,culture and ecology”;integrated design based on the basic principles of “experimentality,accessibility,coordination,diversity,and education”.The integrated design strategy aims to integrate the land use factors,traffic organization elements,landscape greening elements,street furniture elements,and historical and cultural elements of the public space around the ancient city wall in order to guide the design of a public space that is richer in historical context and features better.Protect the ancient city walls and their surrounding historical environment and strengthen the use of the ancient city walls and the surrounding public space.Finally,summarize the conclusions and innovations of the thesis and put forward the issues that need further study.It is hoped that this article can provide a reference to cities at home and abroad that still have ancient walls and provide a reference when they update the public space around the city walls.
