Research On The Integrated Strategy Of Open Space In Compact Cities Centre Under The View Of Landscape

“It's estimated that by 2050,over 75% of the world's population will be urban.”James Kona,a famous landscape architect,has once predicted this at Landscape Summit 2016 in USA.Due to the lack of urban space resources,many cities have set “Compact Cities” as their developmental goal.Even though the urban spatial density is high,it still fails to become“compact” in essence because of the fragmentation and disorder during the whole design as well as construction.Instead,it brings out problems like the disharmony of the overall landscape and open space.In a compact state,urban open space shows a growing tendency for integration and diversification,which demands a systematical integration.Landscape urbanism,whose core has great value in the practice of future city constructions,follows the steps of contemporary development.To integrate open space in the compact urban centers under the guidance of the landscape has been one of the most significant steps during the construction for today and future.This will also become a supplement or improvement to urban open space system as well as research on urban spatial integration,which also has ecological values for city development.Based on this and under the guidance of the landscape urbanism theory,this research adopts the combination of theory with empirical research as the main research method,discusses the compact landscape-oriented integration strategies of urban open space and then proves the feasibility of the strategies by analyzing an application case.First of all,the author studies substantial relevant research situation and tendency,summarizes present achievements and insufficiency,and as a result,points out the necessity of this research.Second,the author conducts a basic research on the open space and integration of compact urban central areas.Then,its concrete connotation and the specific classification are analyzed.In addition,the author studies the relationship between Compact Theory and open space in compact urban central areas and the enlightenment of the new urbanism theory on the urban integration are discussed.Third,the author interprets the concrete cores of landscape urbanism,and concludes its guiding role in integration of compact open space in urban centers.Consequently,the compact landscape-oriented integration strategies of urban open space is proposed.Fourth,according to the current status,theoretical research and integrationprinciples,the author concludes the important elements for integration from two aspects: the integration between open space and other city elements,and the internal integration within the open space system.Fifth,based on what are concluded about the elements of compact open space in urban centers,the author employs the cores of landscape urbanism as guidance in order to propose three integration strategies,including landscape-oriented regional strategy,ecological strategy and dimensional strategy.Through the analyses of substantial completed or to-be-completed projects at home or abroad,the author proposes many strategic instruction to future urban landscape development.Finally,the author verifies the feasibility of landscape-oriented integration strategies by analyzing the application case of open space in Tianhe Center in Guangzhou.Taking landscape as the main entry point,this research discusses the integration strategies of compact open space in urban centers,giving full play to the structural and media functions of landscape.It also discusses how to deal with the relationship between urban open space and other elements,and the internal relationship within open space system from different aspects.All these contribute to creating a more convenient,comfortable and high-quality urban public life by extending intensive land use in cities,enhancing overall environmental vigor and its quality,and highlighting regional characteristics in urban open space.In addition,this research is of great significance to cities ' ecologically sustainable development,which is in line with the current and future domestic request for urban ecological construction.This is also a new exploration of the concept of the landscape city.
