Variable Air Volume system(VAV)is a standard air-conditioning solution for high-end office buildings, which applied to China mainland in late 90 s and gradually became popular for its advantages of energy saving and comfort. However, the complexity of end facilities(VAVBOX)and relatively high requirement on the whole system control limited the domestic application of VAV air-conditioning system. The author analyzes all the problems encountered in the operation of the system in Tianjin TEDA Plaza Zone A,then puts forward a practical control strategy. This paper introduces the basic components and principles of the VAV air-conditioning system, analyzes the advantages and disadvantages of the constant static pressure control, variable static pressure control, and total air volume method for the control of the VAV air-conditioning system, and uses the Johnson Controls MEA system architecture to design and implement the control system of the project in Tianjin TEDA Plaza Zone A.By analyzing the problems encountered in the project adjustment and operation of the variable hydrostatic control scheme, the total air volume method was adopted to solve the problems of oscillation and overshoot in the system control, and the logistic adjustment and algorithms optimization were used to design more practical control program in aspects of VAVBOX end control, air conditioner fan frequency control and temperature control on air conditioning method. The program avoid and solve a series of engineering problems encountered in the operation of VAV air conditioning system to run the system with high efficiency and low energy consumption, which offers reference for total air volume method application in VAV air-conditioning system.
