The Impact Of High-speed Railway On Regional Development In Yangtze River Delta Urban Agglomerations

High-speed railway is a new transportation mode which comes with high technology.Because it has a very high speed and safety,it is widely built in the world.The China government also focus on HSR construction especially in Yangtze River Delta Urban Agglomerations which has a very high economic development.The HSR's network also highly developed.With the rapidly development of HSR,the impact of HSR on regional development has attract attention from planners and scholars.When the HSR was completed,accessibility improved significantly across the region.The improvement of accessibility indicated increase in efficiency and brought geographical advantages.HSR improved the attraction of cities in this region and that caused competitiveness that lead to economic growth and spatial structure change.But since the improvement is not equal for each city,the equality problem might still exist.The impact on region unevenness is another issue beside the increase in efficiency.This research will analyse the accessibility improvement including efficiency and equality,two aspects with different indexes in two scenarios(when there is no HSR in this area and when there is a HSR network).The analysis applies Network analyst and Spatial analyst techniques in GIS.SPSS(Statistics Analysis Software)is also used to do calculation.This research will analyse the influence of the development of high-speed railway system on the future evolution of spatial pattern in the Yangtze River Delta Region,and revealed that the high-speed railway will comprehensively enhance the accessibility of the Yangtze River Delta region,greatly shorten the space-time distance between cities and promote the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta,And through the formation and development of the metropolitan area and economic axis,promote the formation of the spatial structure of multi-center development in the region.High-speed railway affects the development and expansion of cities as well.On the other hand,although high-speed railways will promote the formation of a multi-center spatial structure,there are obvious regional differences in the impact on urban accessibility.Cities should explore development strategies that are in line with their own characteristics under the new high-speed railway structure.This article will focus on analyzing the regional and urban levels,high-speed railway on regional and urban development changes,while changes in the larger county-level cities will also be mentioned in the analysis.
