Modern Expression Of Traditional Architectural Vocabulary Based On Design Of Yuhe Courtyard Boutique Hotel

Old Beijing City has been considered as splendid cultural treasures which are inherited from Chinese civilization.They carry time changes,traces of life and folk culture.Old Beijing City is not only the bright results of the ancient Chinese city construction,but also the most unique and sig urban space for this metropolitan city.Since the Ming Dynasty,delicate and well-designed urban planning had been executed on a cultularge scale,relying on which laid the Old Beijing City built its basic architectural and spatial forms.After a century of historical flux and the regime changes,the old city buildings have also experienced transformation of various modes.Therefore the transformation of traditional houses that combined with different functions of multi-directional development has become an important issue,in the current cultural atmosphere and historical needs.In this paper,author takes the Beijing Yuhe historical and cultural conservation blocks as a macro object of study and explores the contemporary expression of traditional architectural vocabulary of Beijing Courtyard based on Yuhe courtyard boutique hotel.First of all,study domestic and foreign related design theory and summarize universal design methods from domestic and international excellent design practice cases.Secondly,analyze the possibility of Yuhe courtyard being renovated into a boutique hotel,which including the existing excellent cases of renovation of Beijing courtyard,the adaption-ability of boutique hotel function,and the current situation of Yuhe historical and cultural conservation blocks.In this research,author divides the architectural vocabulary into three parts: spatial pattern,building structure,building scale and material.In each part,firstly summarize the design methods and rules of traditional courtyard,secondly overview the change of function,development of structure,alter of beauty-appreciation and use of material under the current circumstances.Finally,combine the traditional methods with the current circumstances,and come up with the specific design methods of Yuhe courtyard boutique hotel.In recent years,the world pays more and more attention on the Chinese traditional architecture,meanwhile the Beijing government also put much more money and manpower into this meaningful renovation project.Under this circumstances,researching the modern expression of traditional architectural vocabulary becomes a vital issue,which the author study hard on and expect to work out some design methods or advice.
