The frame is the main bearing structure of vehicle and the load on frame is complicated during the driving process. The strength, stiffness and dynamic characteristics of frame are related to the safety and comfort of the vehicle. It has a vital iMPact on the performance of vehicle.Traditional frame design methods are mostly based on theory and experience, the process is complex and the cycle is long.It is difficult to develop new models, which is mismatched with the requirements of modern automobile manufacturing technology. With the introduction of national intelligent manufacturing, energy saving and emission reduction, meanwhile computer-aided design and lightweight design are widely used, engineers can use the finite element technology to analyze the frame during the initial design stage and before test.Analysis is performed to understand the design flaws and get the optimized space, which is of great significance for the design and optimization of modern frame structures. The frame structure of a truck is taken as the research object in this paper. The static and dynamic performance of the frame is deeply discussed, which provides reference and basis for the parametric design and the lightweight design of the frame structure.ANSYS Workbench is used in this paper.First the finite element model of the frame is established, and then the static strength of the frame is analyzed. The stress distribution and deformation distribution of the frame are obtained under four typical working conditions: full load bending, full load bending and twisting, emergency braking, emergency turning, which could be used to check the strength and stiffness of the frame. The weak part of the frame structure and the optimization space can be determined. Then modal analysis and random vibration analysis of the frame are performed. The natural frequency and modal shape of the frame structure are determined. After it is combined with the road surface roughness power spectraldensity, the strength and stiffness state of the frame structure under random excitation of the road surface are obtained. Finally, based on the results of static analysis, the response surface optimization method is used to perform the optimization design of the truck frame. The thickness of frame is taken as the optimization variable, the maximum stress and maximum deformation of frame is taken as the state variables, and the lightest weight of frame is taken as the objective function, the frame optimization design model is established, and finally the lightweight and parametric design of the truck frame is achieved.
