According to the development speed of GDP in China at persent,in particular,to achieve the goal of reaching the level of moderately developed countries by the middle of this century,the energy demand of China,especially the electric power demand must be absolutely huge.However,nowadays,the power structure in all areas of our country is not reasonable,thermal power accounts for nearly 80%of the total power generation,while the others are only accounted for about 20%.After all,coal is non renewable resources,at the same time,a large number of pollutants released from coal combustion can cause serious environmental problems.Thus,it is very necessary for the sustainable development of the whole electric power industry to study the sustainability of different power generation methods and optimize the structure of electric power production.This paper takes Liaoning Province as an example to carry out the research to seek a sustainable way of generating electricy and to provide reference for the future of the power structure in the province.First of all,investigate and collect the data of basic situation,power structure and resource endowment of Liaoning Province.Resource potential indicators are proposed to make a quantitative comparison of the available potential of major energy resources in Liaoning Province.Calculation results proves that the available potential of major energy resources in Liaoning Province from big to small is biomass,wind,solar,uranium,hydroenergy and coal.Then combine the analysis of the power structure currently and the resource situation,the conclusion can be drawed that the power generation methods existed in Liaoning Province mainly are thermal power,nuclear power,wind power,hydropower,photovoltaic and biomass power.Secondly,use life cycle assessment method combined with eBalance software for LCA modeling.In this paper,seven kinds of environmental indexes are selected to obtain the energy consumption and emissions of various power generation methods in Liaoning Province.Then combine with China's 12th Five energy conservation and emission reduction policy objectives,take a comprehensive index of life cycle energy conservation and emission reduction "ECER" as the standard for environmental impact assessment.The results show that,the environmental impact of the six power generation methods from strong to weak is thermal power,biomass power,photovoltaic,wind power,nuclear power and hydropower.Thirdly,the life cycle unit cost of each power generation method is calculated by the life cycle cost method.After determine the constitutes of the cost of different power generation methods,collect the data of the power plants in the province and take the averge value as calculated raw data.The life cycle unit cost of each power generation method from high to low is photovoltaic,wind power,biomass power,thermal power,nuclear power and hydropower.Finally,using multi-objective decision analysis method,sustainability evaluation model for power generation method is proposed by combining resources,environment and cost.In order to ensure the tightness of the results,in this paper,the above three aspects are given different weights to be calculated,and different dimensionless methods are considered.Comprehensive analysis results show that,depending on the interests of the decision makers on the three aspects,the ranking of the sustainability of the six power generation methods will change.But generally speaking,the sustainability of the six power generation methods from strong to weak is nuclear power,wind power,hrdropower,biomass power,photovoltaic and thermal power.
