As the national economy keeps growing,the volume of all modes of transports is also increasing every year.The registered vehicles have been increasing every year.Since road users have limited understanding of the road traffic law,contributing to the causes of road crashes,road crash fatalities have increased almost double.In average,5 persons are killed every day,irrespective of orphans,widows and people with disability left behind.Apart from causing direct impacts on people such as the separation of children and grandchildren,siblings,parents,friends and the financial and family economic losses it also causes millions of dollars of the national economic losses each year.Huge amounts of the national budgets could be saved if the road accidents can be reduced.From this case,it reflects that,traffic accidents have caused tremendous impacts toward the national development.The fully labored people such as students,graduates and civil servants etc.have suffered injuries,deaths and or becoming disabled to which this has caused a big loss of the social and economic forces.In this regard,to find out main cause of traffic accident in Cambodia,this study aims to identify the current situation of road safety in terms of road crashes and causalities.A crash prediction model is proposed to predict future crash situation in Cambodia,R software was used in this study to calibrate the model parameters based on the observed crash history,and to calculate the crash indicators of the main roads.This paper also presents the future challenge and give some key recommendations for improving the road safety in Cambodia.
