| The construction industry has a great impact on the economy of a country.Better performance in construction projects will effectively increase construction productivity and will affect the economy positively.Given that organizational culture has a significant relationship with outcomes such firm effectiveness and based on resourcebased view theory,this research presents a culture-effectiveness model for investigating the effect of organizational culture on the performance of construction firms,particularly in the Moroccan context.Responses from managers of local contracting firms operating in Morocco were collected using a carefully constructed questionnaire survey.The collected questionnaires were inspected for completeness and coded in Statistical Package for Social Sciences(Version 21)for analysis.Multiple linear regression analysis was used to evaluate the model for the effect of the organizational culture on firm performance.The study indicates that market culture,adhocracy culture and clan culture have a positive effect on firm performance.Whereas hierarchy culture has a negative effect on firm performance.Furthermore,the regression analysis shows that market culture is likely the cultural profile which would foster the firm performance within construction firms in Morocco which may specify that the higher the level of market cultural profile,the higher the level of performance will be in the Moroccan construction industry.These results could be useful for Moroccan construction firms in cultivating the right organizational culture that is expected to foster firm effectiveness.The study recommends that further study should be undertaken in neighbor countries to discover if this result is particular to the country of our study and to gain deeper insight into this relationship. |
