The adaptable-function mechanical product is a kind of product that can achieve different functions by replacing components or changing the connection ways of the structure.At present,the researches aimed to this kind of products are rare.To extend the design methodology for the adaptable-function mechanical product,this thesis conducted some researches on the redesign methodology of this kind of product based on case-base reasoning(CBR),as listed below.Firstly,the thesis investigated some cases of the existing adaptable-function products,and then analyzed the products’ functions and structures,constructed the Function-Structure model with abstraction behavior layers.Based on the conception of this model and FBS(Function-Behavior-Structure)theory,it carried out the discretion to the typical product system,and proposed a hierarchical case-set method for this process,where a discrete eigen-matrix was constructed.Two cases were presented to illustrate the process.Secondly,by setting the rules of case organization,it studied the CBR conceptual design process,where a CBR-based case matching methodology was proposed for similar case identification to support the conceptual design process.Finally,by taking a spinning machine for case study,it elaborated on the process,and concluded with the methodology for CBR conceptual design,feasible for the adaptable-function product development.Thirdly,it analyzed the characteristic of adaptable-function products,and studied the combination redesign method by applying CBR.For this aspect of research,it analyzed the functional and structural coupling,the process of function grouping,and then proposed the concept of function embodiment and three functional combination relationships.As a result,two combinaion solutions were obtained with respect of functional correlation and structure extension.Finally,the feasibility of this combination redesign method was demonstrated by a case study.At last,the thesis studied the importance and significance of conceptual design valuation for combination redesign,and proposed the evaluation method with criteria and structure in recursive order hierarchy,whereby the inclusive and interchangeable decision can be made from design evaluation.
