In C-NCAP and Auto safety regulations the location of the knee impact sites is therefore highly predictable,and there is a danger that the car design may be tuned to provide good result in this one set of knee impact locations.There would be a risk that if dummy result were relied on to advice the consumer about hazards in the knee impact area,the real driver might experience quite different loading to that of the dummy,which slight variations in knee impact site.In June 2011,Euro NCAP released Knee Mapping Sled Test Procedure,this is an important supplement for Euro NCAP evaluation system,for Knee Mapping test advise to make a knee impact location to evaluation the femur and knee injury.Meanwhile C-NCAP needs to be improved,so it is inexorable trend that Knee Mapping test procedure becomes a part of C-NCAP.The aim of the paper is to simulate the Knee Mapping test procedure to give reference and guidance.Depend on Euro NCAP Knee Mapping test procedure and simulate the Knee Mapping test.Chose a vehicle that satisfy the condition of Knee Mapping,determine the knee impact point,then check the structures included in the knee impact area,if there are structures have a large hardness,sharp shape or mounting position prominent,it is regarded as hazard structure,then carry out Knee Mapping test.This test is about adjust the position of legs to make sure knee can impact the hazard structure,then analyzing the femur and knee damage to make clear that whether this structures can hurt the passenger's leg safety.The main work is to finite a sled element model,which include body structure and constraint system etc.Make sure the hazard structure consistent with the full vehicle,and use the Hybrid ? male dummy to finish the simulate test.Comparison and analysis the result of simulation test and full vehicle,In order to make sure the sled test result is real and effective.Then use the sled element model to complete the Knee Mapping test.Simulation results determine that,there are three hazard structures-steering column dust cover bolt hole,steering column adjusting mechanism and knob table.As to improve the safety of the vehicle,also to avoid modifiers,put forward optimization scheme in sled element model,reduce passenger's leg damage.Meanwhile analysis and research similar problems,put forward other feasible programs,to achieve the purpose of guiding development.
