The designer and user are fond of Special-shaped columns(SSC),because of its flexible layout mode and the incersing use of building space.Because of the special-shaped columns section is irregular,special-shaped column frame mechanical characteristics change,Especially in high intensity area it has weak shear performance and poor seismic performance.With the gradual extension of the SSC frame structure,the seismic performance of frame structure with SSC become a restricted factor.It is imperative to find a kind of energy dissipation technology which can be applied to the frame structure with special shaped columns.Bruckling-restrained braces(BRB)is a kind of energy dissipation device,which has good energy dissipation and damping capacity.BRB energy dissipation damping technology is mature,which has been widely used in new buildings and reinforcement.In this paper,the researches of special-shaped columnsand BRB are summarized first.According to the performance test of BRB which used in a actual project,the hysteretic curve model of BRB is discussed.The two common layouts of BRB are calculated theirs energy dissipation 、 analysed and compared.Due to the poor seismic performance of the special-shaped column structure,BRB combined with SSC was put forward,constituted a new structure system.In order to study BRB influence of seismic performance on original structure,a frame structure in Yunnan as prototype,2 planaer 2 across 3 layers of special-shaped column frames were designed、created and reverse cyclic loading tests were conducted.The damage processes and energy dissipation capacities were compared and analyzed.The results show that:Special-shaped column frame structure system has anti-seismic and energy dissipation capacity.The BRB and special-shaped column frame structure system have good cooperative working ability.Compared with the common special-shaped column frame structure,SSC-BRB structure has larger lateral stiffness,the fuller hysteresis curve,higher bearing capacity and better seismic energy dissipation capacity,and BRB can consumpt the energy ahead of special-shaped column structure.The BRB can make up the shortcoming of the frame structure with special-shaped columns: theinsufficient seismic energy dissipation capacity.The results verify the feasibility of the BRB used in special-shaped column frame structure system,provides reliable data for the SSC-BRB structure system,lay the foundation for the promotion of the use of the special-shaped column structure system.
