China is big country for ceramic tile production and application.It needs to consume a large number of ceramic tile adhesive mortar to install these tiles,the market capacity is huge.At present,there are various kinds of ceramic tiles,it is necessary to have high performance tile adhesive mortar to avoid the bonding-off issues.Application of tile adhesive mortar is still in the starting in China,and even many projects still mixing cement and sand to install tiles on-site.There are many enterprises producing tile adhesive mortar in China,but most of them are produce low grade products,and they lack the high performance tile adhesive mortar to match the different type of tile and the application environment.In order to develop the high-performance tile adhesive mortar for low-water absorption,medium-sized of porcelain tiles and large-sized of ceramic sheets,this paper aims to find the best mixing ratio and the influence of some functional additives.Studied the bonding strength,anti-slip,open time,flexibility and other special properties,developed two high-performance tile adhesive mortar,and finished the trial production and application of the products.Firstly,the paper studied the effects of sand-cement ratio,coarse-fine sand ratio,proportion of mineral admixture,and water-material ratio on the bond strength,shrinkage,compressive strength and flexural strength of tile adhesive mortar.The results show the best sand-cement ratio and coarse-fine sand ratio is 1:2,the best water-material ratio is 0.26,the best amount of metakaolin is 4%.The bonding strength of mortar is closely related to the shrinkage.The larger the shrinkage,the lower the bond strength.The greater the difference between the early and late shrinkage ratios,the greater the decrease in the bonding strength.“thin layer application” is beneficial to reduce the shrinkage rate of the mortar,the difference in shrinkage ratio between early and late is small,and the long-term bonding strength can be ensured.Next,the paper studied the effects of cellulose ether content,redispersible latex powder type and dosage on open time,anti-slip performance and flexibility.The results show that the high-modified methyl hydroxyethyl cellulose ether B which has excellent water retention and thickening property and can make the mortar have higher yield value,the suitable dosage is 0.3%-0.4%.The open time is significantly extended and the anti-slip performance is significantly improved.The film formation rate of the redispersible latex powder is a key factor affecting the viscosity and open time of the mortar.Slow film formation speed has long open time,which is good for application.Therefore,it is necessary to select a suitable type and amount of redispersible latex powder.To help the mortar have long open time,latex powder A should be selected,and the suitable dosage should be 4%.The polymer film is flexible,is the main reason for improving the flexibility of the mortar.As the amount of the film increases,the film formation area increases,the flexibility of the mortar will be increased.There is no significant difference in the improvement of mortar flexibility between latex powder A and latex powder B.Then,the paper successfully developed two high-performance tile adhesive mortars and finished trial production.The slip of mortar A(C2TE)is 0.33 mm,the 28 d bonding strength is 1.44 MPa,and the bonding strength after water immersion is 1.38 MPa,the bond strength after heat aging is 1.24 MPa,the bond strength after the freeze-thaw cycle is 1.45 MPa,and the open time at 30 min is 0.78 MPa,suitable for medium-sized porcelain tiles.The slip of mortar B(C2TES1)is 0.12 mm,the 28 d bonding strength is 1.62 MPa,the bond strength after water immersion is 1.45 MPa,the bond strength after heat aging is 1.60 MPa,and the bonding strength after freeze-thaw cycle is 1.51 MPa,The 30 min open time is 0.88 MPa,and the transverse deformation is 3.55 mm.It is suitable to install large size of ceramic sheets.The application test in job site works well.Finally,the paper did a full life cycle cost analysis of tile adhesive mortar.The results show that although the raw material cost of the high performance tile adhesive mortar is higher than traditional cement mortar,but high performance tile adhesive mortar use “thin layer application” method,the material consumption is saved,the application efficiency is improved,and the total construction cost is lower than the traditional cement mortar,and The high performance do not have bonding-off issues,can saving maintenance costs and has lower long-term use cost.
