The road surface roughness contains holes,cracks and other performance of the road surface profile information.It is an important index to evaluate the road.It also directly affects the service life of the road and comfort of the riders.With the increase of road mileage in various countries,people paid more attention to the measurement and expression of road surface roughness.However,the road surface roughness can not be measured directly.Different countries have different definitions,evaluation criterion and measurement methods.It was not until 1982 that the World Bank proposed the international roughness index IRI,lots of scholars began to study on it.The traditional manual measuring method has gradually been replaced by the multi-sensor measuring method.However,almost all advanced vehicle multi-sensor measuring method has the same problems,such as high cost,limited measuring range,and low measuring frequency.Especially in developing countries,it is difficult to carry out a wide range of road roughness measurement.To solve these problems,this paper presents the theory and method of road surface roughness measurement and visualization based on "bicycle" and"smart phone sensors".Specific research contents include:1)The construction of the computation model is the key of the smart phone sensor data to the road roughness.This paper analysis traditional road surface roughness computation models and converses sensor data based on it,selects suitable data preprocessing model such as noise reduction model to process sensor data.And then,combined with the characteristics of cycling measurement,constructs an IRI computation model for smart phone sensor data.In addition,this paper also proposes a pothole recognition algorithm because of peopled concern.2)In order to make people check the road surface roughness condition easily,this paper studies the visualization method of road surface roughness.Firstly,draws the trace line for each measurement by continuous GPS locating.And then,grades the road surface roughness by IRI value and designs map legends for them.Lastly,studies multi-scale representation method for the road surface roughness and analysis the suitability of particle size.3)After a series of theoretical research,this paper also build an APP called"GetRoadSR" to realize the computation model and multi-scale visualization method.People can measure,manage and check the road surface roughness information by install GetRoadSR in their smart phones.
