The Research On Key Technology Of Fog Seal Used In Airport Asphalt Pavement

Fog seal is being widely used in the conservation of airport runway with its advantages such as convenient construction and quickly open traffic.The original fog seal material is asphalt emulsion,new type of fog seal material contains many kinds of additives,causing obvious changes in classification,propertis,effect on asphalt pavement.In addition,there is no specification of fog seal used in airport.The construction management and the performance evaluation are different from highway engineering.So it is necessary to adjust the existing specification in highway engineering to meet the need in airport runway conservation.Three experiment materials are picked in this article,several performance experiments are conducted around these materials.Two methods are used to evaluate the curing property,it turns out rhinophalt is the best and temperature can obviously effect the curing time.By weighing the weight of experiment materials chaning,determin its evaporation residue content.Two different methods are used to evaluate the adherence with aggregate,the result shows that the property of materials effects obviously.determining the penetration changes to assess the ability to rejuvenat aged asphalt,it turns out that all materials has poor ability.Adding different amount of water into emulsion and stirring uniformly,it will isolate quickly in the first 1.5h,so it's better to use a spreader with stir instrument to keep the emulsion uniform all the time.Wet wheel abration experiment is conducted to determin the anti-wear performance,and rhinophalt is the best among the three materials.scattering experiment is conducted to determin their ability to cohension loose aggregate,the result shows that the air void effect greatly and the dose effect a little.All materials can improve the seepage of the pavement and decrease its skid resistance.The use of sand can relief this decrease,making it meet the specification.On the basis of existing construction experience and specification,we come up with a new construction tecknology combining with ICAO specification.Two construction example are given to show the actually construction effection of fog seal.In summary,fog seal has good effection on mild deseases of asphalt pavement.But we need to control the rate,environment temperature,construction operation and to adjust to the desease extent to ensure the construction effection.
