Relative experimental research on the material properties and the structural behavior of stainless steel has been carried out domestically and internationally, but test and theoretical research on stainless steel joints is scarce.Stainless steel is a non-linear material and has a favorable strain hardening capacity under cyclic loading;the anti-slip coefficient of stainless steel plate is lower than that of carbon steel;various types of stainless steel bolts can be used for stainless steel joints. In order to study the influence of these factors on the bearing capacity of stainless steel welded unstiffened flange-bolted web(WUF-B)joints,experimental studies and finite element analysis have been carried out. This paper mainly consists of the following four aspects of research and analysis:Six finite element models were developed with the finite element software ABAQUS 6.13,considering different joint connection methods.Static loading finite element analysis was carried out.Comparison between the static loading test results of the specimens with 14mm flange plate and the finite element model was carried out to verify the applicability and accuracy of the finite element analysis method.(2)Parametric studies have been carried out and twenty-one three-dimensional nonlinear models of stainless steel WUF-B connection under static loading were developed by finite element software ABAQUS 6.13.The influence of anti-slip coefficient of the friction surface of stainless steel member, thickness of the flange plate and different types of construction was studied.(3)Tests of five stainless steel WUF-B joints were conducted to obtain a comprehensive understanding of the mechanical performance of the joints.and the influence of the grade 8.8 galvanized high strength bolts,A4-70 austenitic stainless steel bolts,A4-80 austenitic stainless steel bolts and the connecting mechanism of the shear plate to the beam flange(either bolted only or bolted and welded)on the hysteretic behavior, ductility characteristics, energy dissipation capacity and failure modes of stainless steel WUF-B joints. Moreover,by comparing the structural behavior of the WUF-B joints under static and seismic loading, the influence of the material properties of stainless steel was also studied.(4)Five three-dimensional nonlinear finite element models were developed using finite element software ABAQUS 6.13 based on the tested stainless steel WUF-B joints.Comparisons were made to validate the three-dimensional nonlinear finite element models, which underpins the accuracy of the finite element analysis and provides some reference for the design method of the stainless steel WUF-B joints.
