Research On The Humanization Design Of High-speed Railway Station Waiting Space

With high-speed railway becoming an important vehicle in modern society,numbers of railway stations are being built in all around cities of China,paying attention to efficiency while neglecting detailed and humanization design.As the most important space of all interior parts of the station,waiting space owns many inhumanization design problems,bringing lots of troubles to travelers.However,there is rare relevant standard specification of railway station detailed design in China now.Since we are pursuing highquality and people-oriented life,we are supposed to have humanized railway stations.This thesis is based on the above phenomenon.Firstly,the author chooses several typical high-speed railway stations of different scales in China to do case study as well as site research.Through photography and observation,the author finds many problems of existing waiting space and analyses the causes to the problems.Secondly,while studying in Europe for the double-degree,the author got the chance to learn the history of Europe railway station development since 1830 s and also visited dozens of urban railway stations,finding both merits and defects of waiting space design to learn from.Then,based on both internal and external experience,together with the results of all site surveys,interviews and questionnaires,the author analyzes Chinese traveling needs,including behavior needs and psychological needs.Finally,the thesis brings forward some key points and principles of waiting space design for a humanized railway station,and also forecasts the future development trend.The thesis is expected to be a guide manual for railway station design or reconstruction,serving for special groups of travelers and ultimately creating a humanized urban public space.
